Burbank is a rural/residential suburb in the City of Brisbane. The suburb is filled with lands that support vegetation. The northern part of the suburb is the Mount Petrie. As of 2016, the Burbank population went down to 1,050 from 1,137 in 2011.

Originally known as Upper Tingalpa, the residents first industries were farming, dairying and timber-cutting, until the name was changed to Burbank. It was believed that the area was entitled after a surveyor named Alfred Harry Burbank who also lived in the area for 18 years, or it was named after a local horse dealer named Frank Burbank.

The suburb has not been divided into small residential blocks to maintain its low population. According to the Australian Property Investor magazine in 2009, Burbank ranked third in terms of having a high median house price in the country.

Since the inauguration of Burbank, a land acquisition program for natural reserve of the Brisbane City Council bought underdeveloped areas. The Brisbane Koala Park was opened. The second park, JC Trotter Memorial Park on Cherbon Street is created to protect the habitats of 3,000 to 5,000 koalas living in the southeast of Brisbane.
