Home to more than 5,000 people, Sherwood is a suburb situated in the city of Brisbane, Queensland. It is located 8.2 km from Brisbane central business district. This suburb is under the Federal Division of Moreton.

In accordance with the 2011 census, Sherwood's population was composed of 52.9% female and 47.1% male. The median age was 35 years, three years lower compared to the national median. A record shows that 82.3% of the population used the English language as they communicate at home.

On the 25th of March 1867, the West Oxley State School was opened. Until 1878, the school changed its name to Sherwood State School. The state school is one of the oldest educational institutions in the state. Its first teacher was Major Williams Jenyns Boyd.

The first telephone was installed in 1828. In 1926, electricity was provided.

The heritage-listed sites of Sherwood are Berry and MacFarlane Monument, Sherwood Aboretum and Sherwood State School.
