Located between Upper Mount Gravatt and the Bulimba Creek, is the residential locality of Wishart. The suburb was originally known as Mount Gravatt South but renamed as Wishart in 1964. It is situated 12 km south-east of the Brisbane central business district.

In 1967, the suburb was officially named after an early European settler in the area. Some parts of the suburb were developed with the help of the Queensland Housing Commission. Churches, including St. Catherine's Catholic with a Presentation Covenant and schools including the Brisbane Adventist College and a primary school were opened in Wishart.

Derived from the 2011 Australian Census, Wishart had a population of more than 10,000, 52% female and 48% male. The suburbs median age was the same as the Australian median of 37 years.67.6% of the Wishart population consisted of individuals who were born in Australia. The percentage of people who spoke English at home was 74.7%.
